Fowey Beaches

The beaches around Fowey are famous for their pictoresque locations and wonderful sands. Please note that the beaches in this area do NOT have a lifeguard on duty or offer any activities, but they are all safe swimming beaches in good weather.

Par Sands, on the west coast of Fowey (O/S grid ref 088533). Sandy beach, shallow for a long distance. Parking at the rear of the beach, chargeable in season. Signposted off the A3082 between Fowey and Par. Toilets a short walk behind the beach, with shop, cafe and pub close by.

Polkerris Beach, small sandy beach west of Fowey, in a sheltered harbour with a gentle shelf. Off the A3082 between Fowey and Par (O/S grid ref 09321). Nearest car park in the village, chargeable in season. Toilets and beach shop/cafe and pub nearby.

Polridmouth Cove (pronounced Pridmouth), sandy beach with gentle shelf and sandbanks, west of Fowey on the coastal path (O/S grid ref 103503). Park at Hamblands after Polkerris turning, or the National Trust car park at Coombe Farm (both chargeable), 15 minute walk through farmland. No toilets or refreshments.

Readymoney Cove, Fowey (mouth of the river, O/S grid ref 117511), sandy beach, a boat free area and swimming platform. Car parks at Tower Park and Readymoney car park, chargeable in season, 5 minute walk from the car parks, 20 minute walk from the town centre. Toilets, and ice cream van Easter to October.

Whitehouse, Esplanade, Fowey (O/S grid ref 123515); low tide only, sandy beach moderate shelving and rocks, adjacent shallow paddling pool. Main car park, Hanson Drive, chargeable in season, 10 minute walk, toilets and refreshments 5-10 minutes away.

Polruan Quay, Polruan. Low tide only, sandy beach with gentle shelf, but beware of boat movements (O/S grid ref 126512). Access through Polruan or by passenger ferry from Fowey. Toilets, shops and pub nearby.

Lantic Bay, small bay east of Polruan, (O/S grid ref 148509) with pebbles, shingle and some sand, steep shelf and strong rip currents in certain tidal conditions. Park in the chargeable National Trust car park on the main road into Polruan, then 20 minute walk across farmland and down steep cliff path. No toilets or refreshments.

Lantivet Bay, moderately shelving sand and pebble beach, low tide only, between Polruan and Polperro on the coastal path (O/S grid ref 166512). Park in the chargeable National Trust car park, then 10 minute walk across farmland. Toilets in the car park, no refreshments.
