Walking
|
Walking: Fowey is an ideal place for walking, whether you are a keen walker or just enjoy leisurely strolls.
Hall Walk: By far the most popular of the estuary walks. It is a circular walk that follows the banks of the river and utilises both ferries, via Bodinnick, Pont Creek and Polruan.
The Coast Path: Much of the coastline belongs to the National Trust and offers stunning views of the coast as well as some rigorous and invigorating walks. From Fowey you can access the coastal footpath heating west towards St. Austell Bay passing Gribbin Head. From Polruan on the other side of the Fowey River, the coast path heads east towards Polperro and Looe and eventually on to Plymouth.
The Saints' Way: A long distance foorpath that crosses the county from Padstow to Fowey. It links many of the holy places asscoiated with Celtic saints from the 5th-7th centuries, who travelled from Ireland across Cornwall to Rome, Jerusalem or Santiago de Compostela. The walk is almost 30 miles long and can be stretched over 2 or 3 days.

Boat Trips
|
Between Easter and October, boat trips are available from the Town Quay in Fowey. All boats are open, so please bring appropriate clothing for the weather, and take a maximum of 12 or 20 passengers. All trips are dependent on weather conditions.
River Trips: This is usally a 45 minute trip around the harbour, taking in the sights from the docks up river, down to the harbour mouth, with the boatman providing information on what you can see. No need to prebook and they operate throughout the day.
Lerryn and Lostwithiel Trips: These trips are dependent on the spring high tide, so only run for a few days every 2 weeks. The trips last about 3 hours and will visit either Lerryn or Lostwithiel (not both) on a trip. You will usually have just under an hour to explore once you arrive. The boatmen display boards on the Town Quay advertising when these trips run and they normally need to be booked in advance.
Guided River Trips: There are 2 trips available, both lasting about 3 hours with around 1 hour ashore. There are only a few of these trips a year, so advance booking is essential.
